Simulation of the natural world is a rich and difficult research problem. The GAMMA research group investigates a wide variety of techniques for efficient physically-based simulation and animation.

Projects include automatic simplification of articulated body dynamics, efficient cloth simulation using chromatic decomposition, simulation of hair dynamics, simulation of painting, simulation of lightning, and simulation of ice formation. Past projects include automatic simplification of particle systems, and fast penetration depth calculation using deformed distance fields.
