Large-Scale Heterogeneous Elastic Body Simulation

Objective

Static analysis of the biological tissue deformation based on 3D medical images.

Approaches

Preliminary Implementation and Result

A preliminary version of the algorithm was implemented on a SGI Onyx2. The program is written in C++. The C code that computes the derivatives of the elastic energy is automatically generated by a Maple program. Therefore, various energy function can be tested without rewriting the program. The example below is a simulation result of 10x10x10 finite element mesh pushed from the bottom. The program was successfully applied to a 40x40x40 mesh.
