Polyhedral Morphing Using Feature-Based Surface Decomposition

Abstract:

We are developing a new approach for morphing between two homeomorphic 3D non-simple polyhedral models. It allows the user to specify corresponding feature pairs on the polyhedra and a morphing trajectory between them with a simple and intuitive user interface. From this information we generate a new polyhedron which has the combined topology of the original two, and a trajectory for each vertex to travel during the morph.
